Despite common belief, music is alive in Ateneo de Manila University and it is present in its diverse forms: from popular genres represented by the Ateneo Musicians Pool to musicals staged by Ateneo Blue Repertory to art music performed by the Ateneo College Glee Club to even instrumental music played by the growing Blue Symphony. The Interdisciplinary Studies Department of the university offers various music subjects the entire year from the Rudiments of Music to critical discussions of Richard Wagner's grand music-drama "The Ring of the Nibelung". Music is alive on-campus, maybe even flourishing, but it is hardly critically talked about. This is where Blue Sound comes in.

Blue Sound is the foray of Ateneo Music Literature minors into music writing outside the classroom setting. This project aims to hone the music research and criticism skills of its budding music writers, but at the same time seeks to engage the Ateneo community with the musical activities going on within and outside the campus.
